Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer has ended the season with a knee injury. The 29-year-old Austrian midfielder from Bayern Munich is on loan until the end of the season. In which the players were given enough opportunities in Erik Ten Hag’s team. Before the injury in the defeat to West Ham United ended the season.

“Everyone at the club is disappoint that we lost Marcel for the remainder of the season as we want to finish the season in the best possible position this season. Including in the FA Cup where we reached the final. We thank him for working together. And hopefully he can get back to playing soon,” Manchester United said in a statement.

United do not have an option to buy Sabitzer this summer but may enter negotiations with their German counterparts if Erik ten Hag wants to keep hold of the Austria international.

Sabitzer scored three goals in 18 games for United after joining the club as cover for the then injured Christian Eriksen on January 31.

United said of Sabitzer’s injury: “Marcel Sabitzer has suffered a meniscal (knee) injury which will unfortunately rule him out for the rest of the season.

“Marcel has played an important role in the second half of our 2022-23 campaign, with 18 appearances and three goals since joining the club on loan from Bayern Munich in January.

Manchester United have four games remaining this season against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham in the Premier League, as well as the FA Cup final. with Manchester City
